Last Sunday my bike was stolen from the Santa Monica Library. On Monday I went through the motion of filing a claim with American Express, digging through my stuff for the bike receipt, and getting copies of my credit card statement and police report. On Tuesday I faxed everything in. And today, I got the email above from AMEX approving my claim… Now it’s time to buy a new bike!

People be askin me all the time, “Yo Mos, what’s gettin ready to happen with people riding bikes?” I tell em, “You know what’s gonna happen with people riding bikes? Whatever’s happening with us” If we smoked out, bike riding is gonna be smoked out. If we doin alright, bikes is gonna be doin alright. People talk about bicycles like it’s some giant livin in the hillside, comin down to visit the townspeople. We the bike riders. Me, you, everybody, we are bikers. So bikes are goin where we goin. So the next time you ask yourself where are people on bikes goin, ask yourself, “Where am I goin? How am I doin?” Until you get a clear idea.
So if bikes are about the people and the… bike culture won’t get better until the people get better, then how do people get better?
